Video 3.10. Positive Sulcus Sign in the Shoulders
Full description
The examiner performs the sulcus test on a patient’s bilateral shoulders. The test is considered positive if a sulcus or groove appears between the acromion and the superior aspect of the humeral head and does not diminish with external rotation. A positive test indicates insufficiency of the capsular restraints. Here, the patient displays a positive sulcus sign in both her left and her right shoulder.
