Video 3.6. Load and Shift Test for Posterior Instability
Full description
The examiner demonstrates the appropriate technique for the posterior load and shift test with the patient in the operating room. The examiner applies an axial load to the humerus into the glenoid fossa while also applying a posterior force. This test is graded on a scale of 0 to 3, with 3 indicating movement of the humeral head beyond the glenoid edge without spontaneous relocation. Here, the shoulder can be dislocated posteriorly, and there is no spontaneous relocation of the shoulder, indicating a test result of 3-.
