Video 2.12. The Lift Off Test

The examiner demonstrates the appropriate technique for the lift off test on the patient’s right shoulder. The patient positions his hand behind his back at the level of the lumbar spine with the palm facing outward. The patient is asked to internally rotate his shoulder to lift his hand off his lumbar spine. The test is negative if the patient is able to successfully lift his hand off his lumbar spine.
