Full description
The patient presents with a right-sided palsy of the trapezius muscle. The patient first attempts to abduct his right (affected) arm and can only abduct to about 60 degrees. The patient then abducts his left (unaffected) arm to about 150 degrees. Further, note the lateral winging of the scapula in the right (affected) side compared to the left (unaffected) side.
